Salary dan Wage memiliki pengertian yang hampir sama, yaitu sejumlah uang yang diterima sebagai kompensasi pekerjaan yang dilakukan oleh seseorang. Keduanya mempunyai arti yang berbeda dalam Bahasa Inggris, dan perbedaannya adalah:

• Salary = Sejumlah uang yang dibayarkan secara bulanan (Gaji)
  

Contoh:

1. an annual salary of £35 000
2. Her net monthly salary is £2500.
3. a 5% salary increase
4. Paul's on quite a good salary in his present job.
5. To apply for a position please send your CV together with a covering letter or email stating your salary expectations to the person indicated.
6. Salary negotiation is asking for a salary increase, a pay rise, or simply more money.
7. In return you will receive continuous training, competitive salary, commission & overtime.

• Wage = Upah yang dibayarkan secara harian atau mingguan
  

Contoh:

1. A minimum wage is the lowest hourly, daily, or monthly wage that employers may legally pay to employees or workers.
2. Low-wage workplaces are often physically damaging.
3. Mike's death hit his parents hard as he was the only wage earner in the family.
